TUNISIAN LACE CROCHET
You need an afghan hook 2 sizes. I used L and M.
Use the smaller afghan hook to make your chain.

I chained 53 but you can chain more if you like it wider.
First row: (this first row is the basic tunisian stitch) With bigger hook, insert hook in 3rd chain from hook, Yarn over, pull up loop, chain 1, (insert hook in next chain, yarn over, pull up loop, chain 1) across (should have 52 loops on hook)
To work off loops, (yarn over, pull through 2 loops on hook) across.
Row 2: Chain 1, skip first vertical bar, *insert hook under first vertical bar and also through the top strand of next horizontal bar, Yarn over, pull through both loops on hook, chain one; repeat from * across.
For last stitch, insert hook under last vertical bar, Yarn over, pull up loop, chain 1. (52 loops)
To work off loops, yarn over, pull through one loop,( yo, pull through 2 loops on hook) across.
Repeat row 2 until desired length.
For last row: With L hook, chain 1, skip first vertical bar,* insert hook under next vertical bar and also through top strand of next horizontal bar, (Yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 2 times;repeat from * across. For last stitch, sc in last vertical bar. Fasten off.

Tunisian Pocket Prayer cloth

(size 3x5)

copyright 2008. All rights reserved. Tish Hoar.

"I" size Tunisian hook.
Chain 9. (9 stitches)
Do 2 or 3 rows of basic tunisian stitch.
On 4th row: do 4 tunisian stitches; on 5th you do a tunisian stitch but
add chain 3.
Then take the chain 3 and slip stitch to vertical bar in
same stitch. You then need to single crochet a loop for the top.
(so you have a loop at the top like the others) then 4 basic tunisian
stitches.
Row 5-8: Do this 4 more times.
Ninth row: you do 2 tunisian and then do the tunisian plus chain 3 etc...
5 times and then 2 basic tunisian stitch. <5 "bobbles" across>
Tenth/Eleventh row: (same as you did on row 4) 4 tunisian stitches;
on 5th you do a tunisian stitch but add chain 3.
Then take the chain 3 and slip stitch to vertical bar in same stitch.
You then need to single crochet a loop for the top.
(so you have a loop at the top like the others)
then 4 basic tunisian stitches.
Thirteenth and fourteenth row:
Then do 2 or 3 rows of basic tunisian stitch.
Then I did a half double crochet all the way around.
